Color Coding

Compressed gas bottles, depending on the type of gas inside the bottle, have a different color in order to be able to identify the gas contained. The color coding of the cylinders available from Aeria Boreio Hellas follows the ELOT EN 10893:2011 regulation. Regarding the body of the bottle, only for medical gases it is always white, while for industrial gases there is no color restriction. Also, based on the mentioned standard, the neck of the bottle must clearly bear the capital letter "N" which means "normative" which means that the bottle complies with the ELOT EN 10893:2011 regulation.

Cylinder Valve (Closure)

In our company "AVE - AERIA VOREIOU ELLADOS" you will find a variety of cylinder valves suitable for the various types of gas. All cylinder valves follow the standards mentioned above to ensure the required safety during their use.

Physical state of gas inside the bottle

Gases such as oxygen due to their high critical point are in gas phase in the environment of the bottle and are characterized as compressed gases.

In contrast, gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide, due to the low critical point that characterizes them, are in a state of equilibrium in the environment of the bottle, that is, a part of them is liquefied and the pressure of the bottle is equal to the vapor pressure of the gas.

Finally, there is acetylene, according to the UPAC designation ethyne is classified as a dissolved gas in a porous mass.

Legislation for pressurized shells

  • According to the existing European and National legislation, the shells of all cylinders that are included in the transportable equipment under pressure are included in the directive 97/23/cm. Enclosures manufactured from 1988 to before the above date are governed by directives 84/525/EEC (non-welded steel enclosures), 84/526/EEC (aluminium alloy enclosures), and 84/527/EEC (welded steel enclosures ) and must bear the prescribed marking Ε.
  • Cylinder shells classified as transportable pressure equipment and with a year of manufacture after 1999 are governed by directives 1999/36/EC and 97/23/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council must be marked π in a legible and indelible manner.
  • According to the current European and National legislation, the shells of all types of fire extinguishers/breathing apparatus are included in the procedure of the directive 97/23/cm and are governed by the provisions of the Governmental Decree No. 16289/330 (Government Gazette 987/B/2999) "Compliance of the Greek Legislation with the Directive 97/23/EC of the European Parliament and Council regarding pressure equipment". All fire extinguisher/breathing apparatus housings manufactured after November 29, 1999 they must bear the CE marking in a clearly visible, legible and indelible manner, in accordance with article 15 of the relevant Ministerial Decision.
